The Peter Pan children's stories in books and plays were just a small part of prolific writer Sir James Matthew Barrie, output. However he is perhaps best remembered for Peter Pan who made his first appearance in a part of his adult novel "The Little White Bird" published in 1902. Then again theatrically in1904 in a stage play, "Peter Pan, The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up". Barrie developed his play as a novel variously titled as "Peter and Wendy" then, "Peter Pan and Wendy" and later as just "Peter Pan". Also because of the play was so well received Barrie's publishers, published chapters 13 to 18 of "The Little White Bird" as "Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens" in 1906 with additional illustrations.
