Mother and child

A mother playing with her son in the Panjim fruit market. Panjim, Goa, South India, November 1994

footnote: When I was visiting India in November 1994 there had been misleading news about plague in India that proved to be incorrect, nevertheless it reduced tourism drastically. Seeing another European was a novelty, so seeing a Swiss gentleman at a Bus Stop we talked. I said to him how much I admired the design of the Indian saris. He answered “Yes it’s good but I would prefer it even more if the the colours were a bit more muted.” I answered “you are in the wrong country, you should have gone to England”
