Old Master Q

“Old Master Q” is a popular Hong Kong comic, Mànhuà, created by Alfonso Wong (1923 - 2017) (aka, pen name: Wong Chak, after his eldest son). The cartoon started life in Hong Kong in 1962, and continues to be published by WangZ Inc.

When I worked in London’s West End, if ever I happened to be walking through Chinatown, I would inevitably purchase a copy of this most humorous comic "Old Master Q" from one of the Chinese shops, to lighten up my mood. I thought it was one of the funniest comics that I had come across, brilliant characters in funny situations described. The comic is in Chinese which I am not familiar with, so I can’t read the script, but it is 90% visual humour, so it can be mostly understood by the non-Chinese reader, or so it seemed to me. rkw
