Bruce Fleming

Bruce Fleming attending the National Portrait Gallery NPG private view “BEATLES TO BOWIE the 60s exposed” an exhibition curated by Terence Pepper, in which his photography plays a part. Bruce Fleming career in photography started early working as a freelance all for the major newspapers. However Fleming in the 60s became increasingly interested in the music scene attending Ronnie Scott's Club shooting the jazz musicians for NME, Melody Maker and Downbeat. Fleming also photographed many of the rock bands and artists throughout the swinging 60's including, The Kinks, The Dave Clark Five, The Hollies, and The Animals. The Animals, bassist Chas Chandler who brought Jimi Hendrix over to London when he became his manager in 1966, asked Fleming to photograph the cover shot for Hendrix first LP "Are You Experienced". Fleming continued to work with Hendrix for over a year. Around 1968 Bruce became more engaged in Fashion photography for a time before moving into Advertising Photography.
