Tin Church

Church Of The Ascension Bedmond, also known locally as the ‘Tin Church’ because it is made with corrugated iron, erected in 1880, in the small village of Bedmond, Parish of Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire. The corrugated church is a rarity of it’s type with its spire and bell. It's an example of an early pre-fabricated building ‘tin tabernacle’ that was made to export to the British Colonies to quickly built churches. Also in Britain, sometimes temporally and later replaced by brick buildings. This Tin Church's, sister Church is a bit older St Lawrence Church in Abbots Langley, that was dedicated to St Lawrence the Martyr in 1154 though that other church dates even further back. The Tin church seems strange at first sight for being corrugated, but is a nice design with a traditional feel and is charming in its own way. Bedmond, Hertfordshire, England, 06/08/2020
