Henry Rider Haggard (1856 -1925) best selling author, in retirement, lived at this lodge, on the righthand side, from 1918 to 1923. H. Rider Haggard the English novelist is known for his adventure stories “King Solomon's Mines” (1885);and “She” (1886 - 87); further books, series, articles, short stories and letters.
